Notes from the first full kiln load
Last month we fired the first full load of the collection: forty plates, twenty bowls and a shelf of cups. The kiln took eleven hours to reach temperature and a day and a half to cool.
Most of the load came out as hoped. Six plates had pinholes in the glaze and will be refired. Two cups cracked at the handle, which tells us the join needs more attention during attachment.
This is what the next months will look like: fire, inspect, adjust, fire again. We will keep posting the results here, including the ones that did not work.
